site history

I started making websites in middle school, experimenting with layout design offline and on freeservers like expages and geocities, until I got hosted by online friends I met in bb forums and mb's. I got my first domain starcastic.org in high school. And finally, pixelmeatloaf.com, unused until now except as an email forward.
The first forum I joined (credit to my sis) was on loverevolution.net. I remember Candytown, Teahouse and Harmonyland, but there were a handful of others that just popped in and out of existence that were special too. I wasn't all that active because I was (and still sort of am?) a shy guy. But I got to know a lot of cool and interesting people. I was endlessly inspired by the personal sites associated with that community and beyond. Neocities and nekoweb remind me of that time in the early 2000s.
